Allied health professionals have a duty of care to ensure their patients are safe to perform their usual activities of daily living including driving. Driving is a complex task requiring physical, cognitive and emotional skills to make good decisions in a timely manner.
As a health professional we are often in a unique position to identify potential short term or ling term issues in our client’s capacity to undertake driving or community mobility including using public transport.
This referral from can be used to communicate concerns about driving or to request specific assessment of driving or other types of community transport and public transport use in consultation with the treating general practitioner.
