Home Safety Assessment Checklist
The home assessment safety checklist is a checklist to determine the risk or safety of therapists attending a specific home environment. The checklist allows the therapist to understand the type of dwelling, the presence of other family members/spouse/others who may be present, whether pets or animals are on the property and a number of other risks such as access and parking.

Working in isolation and remotely poses risks to staff and business owners and managing this risk is an important part of best practice. This checklist assists therapists and business owners to determine whether it is deemed safe to undertake a home visit and what risk mitigation strategies need to be put in place.
The checklist covers areas such as:
- the type of dwelling
- the presence of other family members/spouse/others who may be present
- whether pets or animals are on the property
- access and parking
- notification of arrival and departure from the assessment
- breakdown and vehicle safety
